We’re offering a new course in folk flute for you who want to develop your playing traditional playing pipes and / or recorder and traversal flute. The program is part-time studies or a continuing education year at a distance with a few meetings per semester. The course is good for combining with, for example, work or other studies.
Teaching the course is Göran Månsson.
Want to improve your playing in folk flute? We offer individual lessons and single courses in an individual arrangement depending on which flute type you want to immerse yourself in. The focus is on developing your playing with technique, jam and expression. The teaching takes place with individual lessons at a distance and with two weekends per semester where we meet at the Härnösand Folk High School for individual lessons, seminars and joint ensemble and technology sessions. At the meetings in Härnösand there may also be guest teachers.
We play traditional songs from the repertoire of the Spilåpipa (a type of fiddle flute) from mostly Ol’Jansa’s song treasure from Härjedalen. Also songs from Haverö and the surrounding landscapes of Jämtland, Härjedalen, Medelpad and Hälsingland.
Göran Månsson, one of Sweden’s most acclaimed flute players and educators in folk music. Born and raised in Western Medelpad, he has become one of the strongest traditional bearers of music after his ancestors from Haverö.
Göran is educated at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm where he also teaches. He is the founder of Folk Flute Academy Haverö, which has become a meeting place for flute players from all over the world. As a musician he has toured the world with bands such as Gjallarhorn and Göran Månsson Band and as a solo artist he is one of the most appreciated in Japan. He has performed Mats Edén’s Naturae Sonus for Härjedalspipor and chamber orchestra. The work was specially composed for Göran and was performed together with the Nordic Chamber Orchestra.
Göran is also one of the teachers at Kapellsberg’s folk music education.
